Eendracht Hotel

The award winning Eendracht Hotel is situated in the picturesque town of Stellenbosch.  The location for this boutique hotel is in the heart of town, the historic Dorp Street, the oldest part of Stellenbosch.

The first building on this site dates back as far as 1710.  Through the years it changed ownership a few times until the building was renovated incorporating the original architectural style. It became the Eendracht Guest house and is today known as the Eendracht Hotel.

In celebration of its 21 years in business, the owners decided that The Eendracht Hotel needed refurbishment.

We were so excited to be granted the opportunity to be associated with this excellent establishment.  The brief was short, and clear:  They would like to maintain the “Classical Big Stellenbosch House” theme, but with a modern twist.

We designed 6 combinations for the 12 rooms.  Each combination of fabric repeats once, but in a different way. Consequently each room has a different look and feel.  All fabrics were chosen with the contract hotel market in mind.  These fabrics have to adhere to higher standards of durability in high traffic areas. New window treatments were designed. Some of which were done in plain fabrics for the smaller rooms, others in a lovely classical floral design for the luxury rooms.

The same wallpaper was used throughout to provide continuity to the theme.

All furniture pieces were carefully planned into each space.  In some of the rooms existing furniture were re-upholstered and  new furniture were selected where applicable, and in some instances, designed.  The structural quality of the chairs is ensured as these will be used in a contract environment. Existing headboards were re-upholstered and in some rooms new headboards were designed.  New bed frills were added throughout to compliment the headboards.  The look of each room was complimented with beautiful scatter cushions and lampshades.

The art in the general areas of the hotel, tells the story of Stellenbosch in the olden days.  We gave new life to old photographs and artifacts from Stellenbosch by re-framing them. Some of these items are original newspapers that date back to 1900. Art work were moved from different areas in the hotel to suit the decor and re-framed to compliment the decor in each room.

Last but not least, two old wingback chairs were re-upholstered in a big, bold floral design to welcome guests at the top of the staircase.

Project management was tasked with tight deadlines, with no margin for error. The hotel closed for 2 days to be painted, prior to installations.  Installation of all items were performed during the next 3 days upon which rooms were styled.  Guests arrived the following day to a beautifully re furbished Eendracht hotel, with brand new decor.

This was such a pleasurable journey.  We just loved working on each and every aspect of the project from beginning to end.
